Petra Halkes

So my school is putting on a fantastic exhibition in the ByWard Campus Gallery. Petra Halkes is an artist in the Ottawa region who has put together an amazing exhibition called Bright Lights. Bright Lights is based off photographs she took while being in the passenger seat of a moving vehicle which leaves trails of artificial fluorescent light streaking through each painting. Each piece has its own story behind in and all in all the exhibition left me wanting to drive through the city during a warm summer night.
again… i’m craving summer.

i need you…

so, i’ve entered a contest through the national gallery of canada. it’s called “so you want to be an artist” and it gives you the opportunity to promote a piece of art through facebook and twitter, collect as many votes as you can, and the top 12 artists get their piece displayed at the national gallery along with some other dope prizes. I’ve already created my account and uploaded my picture, voting starts in march sometime, but keep your eyes peeled cause i’ll need all the support i can get.

thanks!
